Storm Swept in Texas

Southern Nazarene drops a doubleheader to Tarleton and Commerce

BETHANY, Okla. — Melissa Padilla went 2-for-4 with three RBIS in a 6-4 loss to Tarleton State before Kylie Lang went 4-for-4 with a run scored against Texas A&M Commerce.
 
The Crimson Storm (1-3) left 19 total runners on the bases between both games with nine against TSU and 10 against Commerce.
 
In the opener, TSU jumped out to a 2-0 lead before the Storm took its first lead with three in the bottom of the third. All three runs came on a bases-clearing double to center by Padilla. The Texanns tied it in the fifth and retook the lead with one in the sixth. The Storm though got one in the sixth to tie it at 4-4 on a TSU error. The Texanns scored two in the top of the seventh and then got a double-play to hold off SNU.
 
Katelyn Brown (1-2) took the loss after giving up six runs, five earned, on eight hits in seven innings of work.
 
In the second game, the Storm took the first lead of the game with two on in the top of the first on a Commerce error and a Sam Smith single. The Lions though scored one in the third and two each in the fourth and fifth innings to lead 5-2 and then added another insurance run in the sixth to lead 6-2.
 
The Storm actually out hit the Lions 9-5 and didn't commit an error. Kayla Wyatt (0-1) took the loss after giving up five runs on four hits. She also walked six.
