BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene pitchers struck out a combined 23 batters in two games as SNU split a doubleheader with Harding, falling 6-2 in the first game before winning 8-5 in the nightcap.
 
The Crimson Storm (4-6, 1-1 GAC) got nine strikeouts from 
Kayla Wyatt in the opener, and one in the second game, before 
Katelyn Brown struck out a career-high 13 in the second game.
 
Harding broke a scoreless tie in the top of the third by unloading with five runs. The Lady Bisons added another in the top of the fifth to push it to 6-0. SNU tried to mount a rally in the bottom of the seventh by scoring two. 
Jill Clemence drove in the first run with a single to short. She then got into a run down between first and second that allowed 
Katelyn Fischer to score from third. That was as close as SNU came though.
 
SNU actually out hit Harding 8-7, but the Storm left seven on base. Clemence went 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead the way. 
Hannah LeBeau also went 2-for-3. 
Kayla Wyatt (2-2) took the loss as she gave up six runs on seven hits in five innings of work. She did strike out nine of the 23 batters she faced.
 
In the nightcap, the Crimson Storm jumped on the board first with three runs in the top of the third first. The Storm struck first when 
Sam Smith hit a leadoff home run to left to put the Storm up 1-0. SNU tacked on two more on with back-to-back singles by LeBeau and 
Alyssa Hughes to lead 3-0. Harding got on the board in the top of the second with a run to cut it to 3-1.
 
The Crimson Storm added two more in the bottom of the fourth on a single ripped to center by Clemence to take a 5-1 lead, but Harding cut it to 5-2 in the top of the fifth. The Storm though got three more insurance runs it needed later, as Harding scored three more in the top of the seventh. The first run of the bottom of the sixth came on a Lady Bisons error before 
Melissa Padilla and 
Sydni Toilolo ripped two singles to drive the final two runs in.
 
Brown (2-4) picked up the win after giving up five runs on five hits in 6.1 innings of work. Wyatt picked up her first save of the year as she fanned the final batter of the night.
 
Clemence drove in a pair of runs and scored two while going 2-for-3 while LeBeau also went 2-for-3. Brown also went 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored.Â
