BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Southern Nazarene University split both of its final games of the UAM 8-State Classic winning 11-1 over Rockhurst before losing 13-2 to Pittsburg State.

The Crimson Storm (3-5) played a pair of five-inning games as it had 12 hits and just one error against Rockhurst, but committed three errors and had just three hits against Pittsburg State

The Crimson Storm jumped out in front quickly with a 7-run second inning to lead 7-0. Freer-Christopher drove in the first run with a single before
Sam Smith was hit by a pitch and
Kylie Lang drew a walk, both with the bases loaded, to make it 3-0.
Jill Clemence then singled to short to drive on another run before
Katelyn Brown ripped a two-run single down the left field line to push it to 6-0.
Hannah LeBeau drove in the final run of the inning when a single through the left side.

The Storm added three more in the third when Brown ripped a bases-clearing double over the center field to put SNU on top 10-0. Rockhurst added a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth to cut it to 10-1, but SNU answered with another run in the top of the fifth on a single to center by
Melissa Padilla to make it 11-1.

Kayla Wyatt (2-1) gave up just one run on five hits and struck out seven in the complete game outing (five innings). Brown went 2-for-3 with five RBIs while Clemence went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Lang and Smith went 1-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored.

In the second game, the Gorillas scored four in the top of the third to jump out to the first lead, but SNU got on back in the bottom half of the inning when Clemence doubles to left center to score Lang. Pitt State thug tacked on two in the fourth and seven in the fifth to lead 13-1. SNU tried to mount a rally in the fifth, but got one run on a Clemence ground out.

Katelyn Fischer had the other hits for SNU as Clemence drove in both of SNU's runs.
Katelyn Brown (1-4) took the loss for the Storm after giving up six runs, only three earned, on five hits in four innings of work. She also struck out five and walked just one batter.Â
