Bisons Halt Streaking Storm

SNU saw its two-game winning streak end with a 70-51 loss to Harding

SEARCY, Ark. — Southern Nazarene shot just 35 percent from the field and 28.6 percent from the free throw line as its two-game winning streak came to an end with a 70-51 loss to Harding.

The Crimson Storm (2-2, 1-2 GAC) were in the thick of things early as they were within three points of the Bisons after the first quarter. Abby Boyd, who totaled six points, led SNU out of the gates. Harding, who was picked to finish second in the Great American Conference this season, blew the game open in the second quarter. The Bisons finished the quarter on a 12-0 run and outscored the Crimson Storm 28-8 in the period. Harding held SNU to 3-of-13 in the period.

HU continued its run into the third quarter, as it scored the first 14 points of the second half. Southern Nazarene continued its offensive woes as it missed its first 12 shots in the third quarter.

The Crimson Storm were able to bring the game closer in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late. SNU outscored the Bisons 25-9 in the final period, as Adrienne Berry scored 10 points in the quarter.

Boyd led Southern Nazarene on the offensive end for the game as she scored 13 points to go along with five assists. Berry was the only other SNU player in double figures scoring as she finished the game with 12 points, as well as five rebounds, and two assists. To go along with the poor shooting, turnovers plagued the Crimson Storm, as the team gave the ball away 17 times on the night.
