Southern Nazarene falls at Lynn

BOCA RATON, Fla. — C.J. white scored a career-high 17 points and pulled down seven rebounds for Southern Nazarene in a 101-92 loss at Lynn in the first game of the Residence Inn Boca Raton Holiday Classic
 
The Crimson Storm (3-6) had four players in double figures as LB Willis led the way with 19 points and four assists. White also had two blocks and a steal as the junior went 7-for-12 from the field. Deshon Portley scored 15 points in his first game for SNU. Portley went 4-for-8 from the field, 3-for-5 from 3-point range and 4-for-5 from the line. He also had five assists and four rebounds. CJ Rodriguez added 14 points with nine coming at free-throw line. Rodriguez went 9-for-12 at the charity stripe.
 
SNU shot 50.9 percent from the field and were 7-for-18 from 3-point range. The Storm also went 27-for-36 at the line. Lynn Hit 50.8 percent from the field and the Storm held the Fighting Knights to just 5-for-22 from 3-point range. SNU though turned the ball over 25 times and gave up 26 points off turnovers.
 
Lynn held a 16-7 lead early before the Storm went on a 16-7 run to tie the game at 23. That run included six straight free throws by Rodriguez as all six came as a result of three technical fouls on the Knights. The Storm pushed it to 34-29 with 5:25 left in the first, but Lynn answered with a 13-3 run to take a 42-37 lead with 2:46 left in the first. SNU though scored the final five points of the half to tie it at 42 at the half.
 
The Knights opened the second half with a 10-3 run to lead 52-47, but a White dunk sparked a 12-3 run by the Storm to put SNU up 57-55 with 12:20 left to play. SNU had a 63-61 lead with 9:36 remaining and that was the last lead the Storm had as Lynn went on a 23-6 run over the next five minutes to take its biggest lead at 86-71 with 3:30 to play and held Southern Nazarene at bay from there.
