BETHANY, Okla. — A 14-point fourth quarter propelled Southern Nazarene to its highest scoring output of the season, but a 35-point fourth by Southern Arkansas gave SNU a 55-20 loss at home Saturday.

Terrence Olds became the first back of the year for the Crimson Storm (0-5, 0-5) to rush for 100 yards as the sophomore had 105 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. Quincy Whitfield nearly had 100 yards as he rushed for 90 on 13 carried and also crossed the goal line as well. If Whitfield could have had 10 more yards it would have been the first time since the 2008 season that the Storm had two players go for 100 yards on the ground.

SNU had 206 yards on the ground and threw for 207 for 413 total yards. It was the most total yards in a game since Nov. 8 of last season when SNU had 437 yards at Northwestern Oklahoma State. The Storm had 225 yards rushing in that game as well last season.

James Mauro had all 207 yards passing as he completed 21 of his 37 attempts. Olds and Whitfield also led the team in receiving yards as Olds had 32 yards on five catches while Whitfield had 35 yards on two catches.

Carlos Anguiano had his first two field goals of the year as the freshman put the Storm on the board first with a 40-yard shot. That was the longest field goal since the 2009 season. It was second straight game the Storm scored first as well. Southern Arkansas answered on its ensuing drive to take a 6-3 lead, but the Storm marched back down the field on its next drive and Anguiano drilled a 22-yard field goal to tie it at 6-6.

The Muleriders (3-2, 3-2 GAC) broke the tie with 12 seconds left in the second quarter and a took a 13-6 lead into the half. SAU stretched it to 20-6 late in the third and pushed it to 27-6 early in the fourth.

SNU cut it to 27-13 after Olds capped off a 7-play, 81-yard drive with a 2-yard run. The Muleriders though pushed it to 48-13 until Whitfield scored on an 18-yard scamper to cut it to 48-20 with 35 seconds to play. SAU added one last score though with 31 seconds left after taking an on-side kick back to the SNU 7-yard line.

Konner Bent and
Isaiah Young led the team in tackles with nine each. Bent had two tackles for a loss of 10 yards, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a sack.
