Southern Nazarene picked up its first 3-0 sweep of the season

Box Score SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Southern Nazarene built off their momentum from a five-set match the night before and cruised in its only match of the day in a 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-23) win over Texas Permian-Basin.
 
Kaylee Piatt didn't miss a mark as the senior dished out 40 assists and added five kills, five digs and four blocks to lead the way for the Crimson Storm (2-1). Taylor Jacobs notched her first double-double of the season as the senior ripped 15 kills and notched 11 digs. She also chipped in with four blocks and an ace. Emily Dick added eight kills and six blocks while Lexie Matthews had six kills and three blocks. Abbey Bell and Elyse Berlin combined for 26 digs as Bell led the way with 14 while Berlin had 12.
 
The Storm hit .272 (47-13-125) while holding the Falcons to just a .160 clip. The Storm as a team had 11 blocks and were blocked just six times.
 
SNU jumped out quickly in the first set when Jacobs sparked a 10-1 run to lead 15-6 and kept UTPB at bay to take a 1-0 lead. In the second set the two tied 16 times and there were six lead changes. SNU trailed 19-18 when Jacobs started a 7-3 run to close out the set and put SNU up 2-0. The Storm again rallied from behind in the third set 19-17 when Dick came up with a kill to ignite an 8-4 run to close out the match.
 
The win was the Crimson Storm's second of the year and they will now get set to open up the Great American Conference season, Tuesday, at East Central for a 7 p.m. contest.
