Southern Nazarene took care of two opponents to close out the weekend

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DURANT, Okla. — An early morning start turned into two quick finishes as Southern Nazarene made quick work of New Mexico Highlands, 3-1 (19-25, 25-20, 25-17, 25-23), and Missouri Southern State, 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 27-25)
 
Taylor Jacobs and Kaylee Piatt led the way for SNU against Highlands as they combined for a pair of double-doubles. Jacobs had 13 kills and 14 digs while Piatt had 32 assists and 15 digs. Jacobs also had four blocks and an ace while Piatt had a block and four kills. Lexie Matthews also had 10 kills.
 
Elyse Berlin had a career-high 22 digs while Abbey Bell had 16. Courtney Bowie and Emily Dick each had five blocks while Berlin had two as well.
 
SNU as a team had nine blocks after having just one in the first set. The Storm hit just .146 in the opening set, but bounced back with a .345 (12-2-29) clip in the second. Southern Nazarene then held Highlands to a -.150 clip in the third set and a .113 clip in the fourth to put the match away.
 
Three players posted double-figure kills in the win over MSSU as Matthews led the way with 12 and hit .308. Jacobs and Bowie each had 11. Jacobs also added five blocks and five digs. Piatt recorded her second straight double-double with 35 assists and 10 digs and also added two blocks. Abbey Bell also chipped in with 13 digs.
 
The Crimson Storm now get set to host Midwestern State, Tuesday at 6 p.m., for the 2014 home opener.
