Not So Savage

Four players scored in double digits for SNU in its 68-57 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State

BETHANY, Okla.— Southern Nazarene had four players score in double digits as it picked up its first GAC victory of the season with a 68-57 win over previously undefeated Southeastern Oklahoma State.
 
Aminata Fall posted a double-double with 16 points and 19 rebounds. She also blocked five shots. Abby Boyd scored 14 points and had five steals. Danielle Gaddis scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds. Ashleigh Hutchings scored ten points, dished out four assists and had three steals.
 
The Crimson Storm (4-4, 1-3 GAC) shot 37.1 percent from the field, 30.4 percent from the three-point line, and 56.3 percent from the free-throw line. The Savage Storm (8-1, 2-1 GAC) shot 35.7 percent from the floor, 22.7 percent from behind the arc, and 57.1 from the foul line.
 
Southern Nazarene's defense started off the game strong as they only allowed Southeastern Oklahoma State to shoot 24.0 percent from the floor in the first half. They built up a seven-point lead by the 9:28 minute mark of the half and then proceeded to outscore the Savage Storm by 13 points the rest of the half.
 
Fall nearly had a double-double in the first half as she scored ten points with nine rebounds. She also had three blocks. Miranda Taylor scored all eight of her points in the half. Gaddis scored six points and pulled in four rebounds.
 
Southeastern Oklahoma State cut into the lead in the first five minutes of the first half with an 11-5 run. The Crimson Storm stretched out the lead again with a 10-3 run in the next five minutes of the half. The Savage Storm cut the lead to eight at the 1:47 mark, but could not get any closer as SNU closed out the game with an 8-6 run.
 
Boyd scored nine points, dished out two assists, and had two steals in the second half. Fall scored six points and grabbed ten rebounds. Hutchings scored seven of her nine points in the half.
 
Fall is now fourth in school history in total rebounds with 924.
