Grounding the Eagles

SNU blocked 11 shots in its 74-62 win over Southwestern Christian

BETHANY, Okla.— Southern Nazarene blocked 11 shots and held Southwestern Christian to a 27.4 shooting percentage from the field in its 74-62 victory.
 
Aminata Fall posted her fifth straight double-double to start the season as she scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. She also blocked four shots and shot 6-for-8 from the floor and 6-for-8 from the foul line. Abby Boyd scored 13 points and had seven assists. Miranda Taylor also scored in double figures with ten points as she shot 4-for-9 from the field and 2-for-4 from behind the arc.
 
The Crimson Storm (3-2) shot 39.7 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from the three-point line, and 81.3 percent from the foul line. The Eagles (4-5) shot 27.4 percent from the field, 11.8 percent from behind the arc, and 80.0 percent from the free-throw line.
 
Southern Nazarene built up an early lead as they started the game with a 26-13 run.  Ashleigh Hutchings scored all nine of her points during the run. They extended the lead with a 19-11 run to close out the half.
 
The Crimson Storm kept the Eagles at a distance for a good amount of the second half. They kept the lead at more than 20 points for the first 11 minutes of the half until Southwestern Christian cut into the lead with a 14-2 run. That run cut the lead to nine with six minutes left in the half. Southern Nazarene never let the lead get any closer as they sealed the game with a 14-11 run.
 
Fall is now second in school history with 676 defensive rebounds in her career.
