ALVA, Okla. — Southern Nazarene exacted a little revenge Tuesday night on Northwestern Oklahoma State with a 3-1 (21-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-22) win over the Rangers.
Â
The Crimson Storm (18-7, 9-3 GAC) fell for the first time in school history to Northwestern earlier in the year, but picked up its season-long fifth straight win. With Harding's loss against Arkansas Tech, the win moved SNU into a tie for second place with the Bisons with two games left on the schedule for the Storm. If the Storm can pick up two more wins to close out the Great American Conference season it would secure the second seed in the GAC Tournament.
Â
Courtney Bowie and
Taylor Jacobs combined for 30 kills on the night as both had 15. Bowie's 15 was a career-high as the sophomore also had three blocks and four digs. Jacobs recorded her sixth double-double as she added 16 digs to her 15 kills. She also had three blocks.
Kaylee Piatt added 41 assists and was just a dig shy of a double-double with nine digs. She also had five kills, three aces and two blocks.
Â
Abbey Bell posted 26 digs while
Elyse Berlin had 13.
Emily Dick also had three blocks. The Storm were matched in blocks as both team had seven. SNU also just edged the Rangers in digs at 85-82. Southern Nazarene hit .106 and held Northwestern to a .063 clip.
