BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene rushed for a season-high 221 yards in a 44-37 loss to Arkansas-Monticello.

The Crimson Storm (0-8, 0-8 GAC) for at least 200 yards for the first time since Nov. 3, 2012 when SNU had over 300 yards rushing against Northwestern Oklahoma State.

Lorenzo Alexander ran for 129 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries. It was the first time a Crimson Storm player has rushed for at least three touchdowns since Nov. 11, 2012. The freshman also caught two passes for 18 yards.
Alec Laffoon also rushed for 78 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries. Laffoon split time with
Austin Anglea at quarterback as Laffoon went 5-for-10 for 62 yards while Anglea went 5-for-14 for 63 yards.
Austin Williams led the way in receiving yards with one 42-yard catch.
Johnathan Martin and
Myles Smith also had two catches.

On the defensive side,
Matthew Gregg led the way with 12 tackles and had an interception and a sack.
Larry Butler III also had a sack as part of his eight tackles.
Jonathan Archie posted a sack as well, but got two points out of his with a safety.

The Boll Weevils (2-5, 2-5 GAC) struck first early in the first quarter to take a 6-0 lead, but the Storm took its first lead of the game with 3:49 left on an Alexander 2-yard run to go up 7-6. After a fantastic punt by
Malcom Davis, that put UAM at its own 1-yard line, Archie snuck through for a sack in the end zone to give the Storm a 9-6 lead.

The Weevils struck back with 3:30 and 1:56 left in the half to take a 16-9 lead into the locker room. The Storm through scored with 10:13 left in the third on Alexander's second touchdown to tie it at 16-16. It took the UAM just three plays though on the ensuing drive to retake the lead at 23-16. The Weevils then just used two plays to score again and held a 30-16 lead with 6:37 left in the third.

On the ensuing SNU drive, the Storm marched back down the field with a 4-play, 52-yard drive that was capped by a 17-yard run by Laffoon to make it 30-23 with 4:45 left in the third. The Weevils though answered with 53 seconds left to take a 37-23 lead into the fourth.

Alexander got his third touchdown of the game when he capped a 4-play, 60-yard drive with 11:29 left as SNU once again cut it to seven at 37-30 before light really started to shine for SNU. On the Weevils' third play of the ensuing drive, Gregg picked off a pass at the UAM 7-yard line and that led to the game-tying touchdown on an 8-yard run by Laffoon.

Monticello though got the final say with 7:12 left to play to take the 44-37 win.

The Crimson Storm had 346 yards of total offense and had 125 yards passing. Monticello had 477 yards of total offense with 144 coming on the ground and 357 coming through the air.
