Southern Nazarene dropped its fifth straight with a loss at Langston

Johnson now has three receiving touchdowns on the year.
Box Score BETHANY, Okla. — Sedrick Johnson scored two touchdowns for Southern Nazarene in a 17-14 loss to Langston Saturday night.

The senior posted 60 yards receiving on eight catches as the Crimson Storm (0-5) totaled 211 yards of total offense. SNU threw for 138 total yards as Dylan Terry went 16-for-29 and both scores to Johnson, but the quarterback also threw two interceptions.

The first interception turned into a 72-yard return as Langston took a 7-0 lead with 1:01 left in the first quarter. The Lions took a 14-0 lead with 7:49 in the second, but the Storm cut it to 14-7 with 4:36 left in the half. Terry hit Johnson for a 29-yard strike that capped an 8-play, 47-yard drive.

SNU tied it in the third at the 8:31 mark on another Terry to Johnson connection to end a 43-yard drive over six plays. Langston got a field goal midway through the fourth to lead 17-14 and forced a three-and-out from SNU. The Lions then ran the clock from there to secure the win.

The win by Langston ties the series at six games each and it might be the last time these two teams play for some time as SNU will play a 10-game Great American Conference schedule from here on out.

Derick Perkins led the way for SNU on the ground with 59 yards rushing on 17 carries.

On the defensive side, Michael Hicks led the way with 12 tackles and he broke up one pass. Trevon Hartfield also posted an interception.

The Storm will now get set to play McMurry (Texas), Saturday, at 4 p.m. in Grand Prairie, Texas.
