Box Score (Game 2)

ALVA, Okla. —
Southern Nazarene got another brilliant performance in the circle from Kaci Crawford as she pitched a complete-game shutout in a 7-0 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State, but three errors in the nightcap was too much to overcome in a 4-3 loss to the Lady Rangers.

The Crimson Storm (21-11, 6-2) got another 12-strikeout game from the senior as she scattered seven hits in seven innings of work. SNU did all of its damage in the first game in the final three innings with one in the fifth and three runs each in the sixth and seventh innings.

Katie Turner broke the scoreless tie in the top of the fifth with a single to right to score Jill Clemence and put SNU up 1-0. A Kristina Forest single and a Clemence triple, along with a Northwestern error, gave SNU a 4-0 lead in the sixth before Kara Crawford hit a single in the seventh to make it 5-0. Kylie Lang's single to right drove home the final two runs and gave the Storm more than enough insurance to carry the win.

Crawford moved to 8-5 on the year with the win and has won three straight.

Clemence went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Turner and Aubrey Jones each went 2-for-4 with a run scored while Turner had an RBI.

In the nightcap, SNU pushed the first run across in the top of the first on a Turner bunt, but the Lady Rangers answered in the bottom half of the inning to knot it at 1-1. Northwestern took advantage of an SNU miscue in the fourth to lead 2-1 before adding two more off another error in the fifth.

Southern Nazarene got two back in the sixth on a Forest double to left and a Lang single to left to cut it to 4-3, but that was as close as SNU came.

Maci-Brooke Lambert (8-4) took the loss after going the first four innings before giving way to Jeneva Nelson for the final two. Nelson allowed just one hit and didn't walk a batter.

Both Turner and Forest went 2-for-3 with an RBI while Forest had a run scored.

Southern Nazarene will hit the road again Thursday to play at Mid-America Christian for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
