Bethany, Okla.—eSports kicked off their National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) Spring Halo season with a very impressive victory over the Southern Mississippi's Golden Eagles.
The Crimson Storm started their spring campaign with an easy sweep on Southern Mississippi in the best-of-5 series. The Storm pushed the pace in Map 1 King of the Hill early as they took the first 2 points with ease, but were met with some pushback of their own by the Golden Eagles on the third point. Josh Lewis was able to pull off a massive triple kill before the point was taken by Southern Miss and SNU was able to capture it and pull off a complete sweep in Stronghold.
Heading into Match 2 SNU kept the moment strong as Slayer is a very strong gamemode for the team. However with a very early technical difficulty and a big gap of time before the game resumed the boys were met with some adversity as they struggled to find that groove. This didn't last long as the team regrouped and got the pace they wanted back and finished off a strong game of Slayer.
Going into map 3 Oddball the team was feeling good, but knew their work was not over as Oddball is their toughest gamemode. They went on to take early control of the map and never let up!
Leading the way on the night with a Kills/Deaths/Assist Average (KDA) of 2.4, 2.2, and 2.72 was Josh Lewis (Slewi J). Isaiah Royal (Agon) finished the evening with some very clutch holds on the objectives with an obj score of 4 captures on King of the Hill and 162 on Oddball and a 6 KDA on slayer. Ben Martin (Pablo) played his role perfectly balancing objectives and slaying, coming in with a 2.1 KDA and 2 objectives on the first map, A 3 KDA on the second map, and a massive 4.66 KDA and 32 points on the last map of the night. Closing off this dominant performance was Drew Middendorf (Shifty) having some very clutch pushes to round out the second match and push the pace of the night. With KDAs of 3.25 on Map 1, 3.65 on map 2, and 2.27 on Map 3.
The boys take on Catawba for their next match, so stay on the lookout for the official date of that match.
