Abby Boyd (Chafey) begins her first season as the Assistant Coach of the SNU Women's Basketball program in 2021 after serving three years with Storm, one as a volunteer snd two in the role of the Graduate Assistant. 

Last March was special for the Crimson Storm as Chafey helped guide the program to their first ever Great American Conference Tournament title as her girls defeated Southeastern Oklahoma State 58-56 in the championship game. The program's first conference championship gave SNU the automatic bid to their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in school history, as they traveled to Canyon, Texas the following weekend. After a hard fought battle with Texas A&M-Commerce in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, the Storm were ousted 70-64 by the Lions. SNU finished the 2020-21 campaign with a 12-8 record in the COVID-shortened Spring season.

Southern Nazarene finished the 2018-19 with an outstanding 17-13 record and returns three of their five starters for the 2019-20 season. SNU finished third in the GAC, their highest finish since joining Division II while winning 15 conference games, the . most since joining the GAC. The Crimson Storm made it to the GAC Semifinals after completely missing the conference tournament a season ago.

Prior to SNU, Boyd was the Freshman Head Basketball Coach at Edmond Memorial in 2018-19 where she played a vital role in not only coaching, but developing. She also served as the varsity assistant and Freshman Head Basketball Coach at Putnam City North, coaching primarily the guards with the varsity squad.

Boyd was a three-time All-GAC selection as she played for the Crimson Storm from 2013-17. She is a 1,000 point scorer, finishing with 1,334, and is third all-time in 3-pointers made with 222. She became the 10th player in SNU history to finish with over 1,300 points as well as 300 assists. She also got it done in the classroom as she was a three-time Academic All-GAC selection.

Boyd has returned numerous times as a Summer Basketball Coach and Counselor at SNU since 2013.

A native of Yukon, Boyd played three seasons at Yukon High School where she was an All-Metro Conference and Big All-City selection her senior year.

Boyd is married to SNU Assistant Athletic Trainer Nick Chafey, a former SNU men's soccer player from 2009-12, and they currently reside in Oklahoma City.
