Brian Madden

Brian Madden enters his fifth season as the sole Head Coach of SNU after serving as the co-Head Coach alongside Tere Webber for the Crimson Storm softball program for two seasons.

During his first season as the sole Head Coach, Madden led the Crimson Storm to a 25-25 record, including a 20-12 record in the GAC. The Crimson Storm finished the regular season 4th in the Great American Conference, their highest ever finish since joining the conference in 2013.

In 2022, SNU amassed a 25-25 record, including four wins over ranked opponents. One of those wins came over defending national champions, and then nationally ranked No. 1 Rogers State. They reached the GAC semifinals for the second straight season.

In 2023, the Crimson Storm finished with a record of 25-28. SNU entered the GAC tournament as the eighth seed knocking off No. 1 Oklahoma Baptist to move on in the tournament.

In 2024, SNU had their best season under Coach Madden as they finished the year 40-17 marking the program's first 40-win season in the Division II era. The Storm earned the GAC tournament title after knocking off Southern Arkansas in the finals. The Crimson Storm also appeared in the program's first ever NCAA Regional Championship as they took on the host Rogers State.

In 2025, the Crimson Storm recorded an overall record of 33-21 and a conference record of 21-12. Madden's squad finished third in the conference standings and an appearance in the GAC Tournament semifinals. The Storm also recorded a series win over No. 19 Harding. 

Working a majority of the time with the hitting aspects of the game, in one season with Southern Nazarene, Madden helped Southern Nazarene break school records in batting average (.363), slugging percentage (.543), on-base percentage (.434), runs scored (387), hits (554), most doubles (119), RBIs (362) and total bases (830). Southern Nazarene has also set the school record for home runs in each of the past three seasons. The Storm hit 45 home runs in 2009, 47 in 2010 and 57 in 2011.

Madden helped SNU finish in the top ten in six different hitting categories in 2009, including having SNU at No. 3 nationally in batting average.  The Storm were in the top 10 in the NAIA in four different categories and in the top 20 in 11 different categories in 2011.

Madden is a former star for the SNU baseball program. A 2007 graduate of Southern Nazarene University, Madden earned his degree in business from SNU. He was a four-year starter for the Crimson Storm baseball team as a first baseman and designated hitter. At SNU, Madden was twice honored with an NAIA All-American honorable mention, along with earning two NAIA All-Region VI and two All-Sooner Athletic Conference first team selections. Madden holds SNU records for career games started, played, and career hits (270). Madden also holds SNU’s career record for RBI’s with 190, total bases (368), and walks (91).

Madden began his coaching career in 2007, coaching for one season as an assistant for the baseball program at Oklahoma Christian University.

Madden, and his wife Nickie, have a son, Aiden, and a daughter, Makenzie.
