Sahlih Butts

Butts begins his second season working with the men's basketball program as a graduate assistant. The Broken Arrow, Okla., native grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y., but moved to Oklahoma as a child with his mother and sister.  He was a starter in his last two seasons on the varsity team at Broken Arrow High School and played in the 2007 6A All-State game. Butts graduated from Broken Arrow in the spring of 2007.

He went on to play two years of college basketball at Drury University in Springfield, Mo., and then later transferred to The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma for his senior season. In 2011, Butts graduated from USAO with a bachelors degree in physical education.

After graduating college, he moved to Oklahoma City to be a housing coordinator and basketball trainer for an OKC prep-school to help players prepare for college. He also played basketball on an ABA semi-pro basketball team locally in OKC.

In September 2013 he married his wife Rebekah, and they moved to Costa Rica for Butts to play professional basketball. He played two seasons for Super Cable Grecia in Grecia, Costa Rica.

In 2016, Butts was offered a coaching position for a summer basketball team in the OKC area. Following that experience, he started coaching private lessons as a basketball trainer. He used those sessions as a tool to help young athletes grow physically and mentally, while they perfected their craft of the game.

That same year, Butts received the head coaching job for the 8th grade boys basketball team at Crossings Christian School in Edmond, Okla.

Butts is married to his wife Rebekah, who is an SNU Alumni, and graduated from there in 2009. They currently reside in Edmond, Okla.
