Since his arrival on Coach Bohac's staff, the Crimson Storm have compiled an overall record of 111-44 including a remarkable 83-27 record in the GAC and a 60-8 record inside the Sawyer Center with the help of Mahoney. In the last three seasons, SNU has won 24 or more games in consecutive seasons and in 2019-20 completed the GAC Three Peat, as the Crimson Storm won the GAC Regular Season Championship outright for the third straight season.

Before Mahoney arrived, SNU only had three total selections on the All-GAC team in their team history. Since his arrival, SNU has pushed that number up to 11 All-GAC honorees as well seven major award winners. Most recently, SNU had three selections on the first team All-GAC team for the first time ever as Jhonathan Dunn, Noah Starkey, and Micah Speight all earned the honor.

Mahoney brings a wealth of recruiting experience as he signed student-athletes from all over the U.S., including Brooklyn, Milwaukee, Chicago, Gainesville (Georgia) and New Orleans. He also signed a prospect out of Canada. He also served as an resident director at ACCC.

Before Allen County, he spent three seasons at Northern Oklahoma College in Enid as an assistant. He has seen players move on to 4-year institutions, including, St. Bonaventure, Stephen F. Austin, Nebraska-Kearney, Northeastern State, Newman, Central Oklahoma, and Minnesota-Crookston. He also served as a professor for several classes within kinesiology and was an RD at NOC as well. He also coached the 16U and 17U Oklahoma Wizards team in AAU before coming to NOC-Enid.

Mahoney earned a bachelor's in sports management with a minor in business from Wichita State University in 2010 and served as a student manager for the Shockers' men's basketball team from 2007-10. He earned a master's in sports management from East Central University in 2014.

He is married to former SNU women's basketball standout Katie Snodgrass, who ranks third all-time in school history in games played, fourth in 3-point field goal percentage, sixth in assists, seventh in 3-pointers made and eighth in steals. She also is tied for the most games played in single-season in school history with 39 as part of SNU's last NAIA National Championship in 2004. The two have two sons, Keon and Zeke.Â
