Rod Porter will begin his first year as Outside Linebackers Coach in 2024 after serving SNU as a Game Day Administrator since 2019. Porter has served in other capacities at SNU including Transportation, Security, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Before coming to SNU, Porter served as a Coach, Teacher, and Administrator in Texas and Oklahoma for over 39 years at the Elementary, Secondary, and College levels. His responsibilities included coaching on offensive and defensive side of the ball, Special Teams Coordinator, Assistant Head Coach, Director of Football Operations, Recruiting Coordinator, Assistant Athletic Director, Advanced Placement Instructor, Assistant Principal, and College History Instructor.
Porter has had the opportunity to mentor athletes who have gone on to play college football and baseball and who have played professionally in the NFL and MLB. He also served as an associate player scout for the Cleveland Indians in professional baseball.
Porter received his Bachelor of Social Science Degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State in 1980 and Master of Education Degree in 1983. Porter graduated from Putnam City West High School and played football for the legendary Mike Little.
Porter has 2 married daughters Kim and Sarah, and 2 grandsons Porter and Tallinn.
Porter and his wife Kelly reside in Yukon.
