Billy Barefield begins his fifth season at Southern Nazarene after spending one year as an assistant coach at Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva. Barefield serves as the recievers coach and the passing game coordinator.
He is a 2008 graduate of NWOSU where he played his final two seasons of football for the Rangers. He also played football at NCAA Division I Memphis his freshman and sophomore seasons. Barefield was a two-time All-CSFL first team selection for the Rangers and was named the 2008 Offensive Player of the Year and was an AFCA-NAIA All-American honorable mention as a senior.
The Shreveport, La., native was a four-time all-state selection and helped Evangel Christian Academy to three straight state titles. He earned his masters in education with an emphasis in history from NWOSU in 2010.
Barefield lives in Oklahoma City with his wife Brittany and their daughter Emerson and son Rieker.
