SNU Career Highlights: Junior Season: Spears was named the Sooner Athletic Conference's top shortstop in 2009 after finishing the year with a .417 batting average, earning First Team All-Sooner Athletic Conference honors. Spears finished the season with 13 homers and 71 RBI's. His 13 homers is tied for 7th on SNU's single season homers list and his 71 RBI's is 4th best for a single season in school history. Spears started all 52 games for the Crimson Storm at shortstop and recorded 180 at bats, scoring 64 runs with 75 hits. His 64 runs scored is 5th best for a single season and his 75 hits is 9th best for a single season in school history. Spears added 18 doubles, one triple and drew 32 walks. Defensively, Spears set SNU's new single season mark for assists with 126 in '09. Spears also tied the school mark for most sacrifice flies in '09 with seven and finished 7th all-time in total bases (134), 9th in double plays turned (18) and 10th in slugging percentage (.744). High School Highlights: Poway High School (San Diego, Calif.)---Spears was a Second Team All-San Diego selection and First Team All-League honoree while hitting .310 with six homers as a senior. Upon graduation, Spears enrolled at San Diego City and Grossmont College where he was an Honorable Mention All-League selection twice.
