Mark Framel

Mark Framel begins his eighth season overall as an assistant coach with the Crimson Storm.

Framel came back to Southern Nazarene for the 2012 season after serving in the 2008-10 seasons in which SNU posted school records for team batting averages in 2008 and 09. The 2010 team was just two-thousandths of a point off tying the 09 record.

Framel began his coaching career as an American Legion coach in Edmond, Oklahoma, and Albuquerque, New Mexico. He then served as the head coach at Belen High School in Albuquerque through 2001. In 2002 Framel began to work with the Oklahoma City Redhawks who at the time were the Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. He helped prepare hitting workouts and scouted Redhawk pitchers and Pacific Coast League opposing hitters.

Since 1999 he has also given private hitting lessons and several of the athletes he has worked with have gone on to play NCAA Division I baseball.

Framel is no stranger to the Sooner Athletic Conference after he played with SNU Head Coach Robert Lee at Oklahoma Christian form 1991-94. He also played on the 1995 handball team that won a silver medal at the Olympic Festival.

Framel graduated in 1995 from Central Oklahoma with a bachelor’s in education and is currently pursuing his master's in sport management in administration at SNU.

He lives in Edmond with his wife Debbie and three dogs.
