SEARCY, Ark. – The Crimson Storm closed out their series at Harding in shutout fashion, delivering a late- seventh inning surge to secure the series victory over the Bisons, 3-0.
Southern Nazarene (26-23, 16-11 GAC) found opportunities throughout the game, collecting eight hits, but couldn't break through early against Harding (24-17, 19-8 GAC) starter Brooklyn Gobble. The Storm threatened in the fourth inning when Eden Anderson doubled to left center, but were unable to bring her home as the game remained scoreless.
In the circle, Baylee Sales was in command from the first pitch. The right-hander kept the Bisons off balance all afternoon, allowing just one hit to keep Harding off the scoreboard.
The breakthrough finally came in the seventh inning for SNU. Adyson Gaddis started the rally with a single through the left side, and Abby Wood followed with a bunt single to put two runners on. After a sacrifice bunt moved both runners into scoring position, Presley Brott delivered a clutch RBI single to give SNU the lead. Macy Stewart followed with another RBI knock to extend the advantage, and Bailey Nettles added a sacrifice fly to cap off a three-run inning.
With the lead, Sales returned to the circle and shut the door, retiring the side in order in the bottom of the seventh to complete the one-hit shutout and taking the series over Harding with the 3-0 victory.
