BETHANY, Okla.- Southern Nazarene opened its series on a windy Friday afternoon, shutting out Northwestern Oklahoma State 4-0 behind a complete performance in the circle and timely hitting at the plate.
The Crimson Storm (16-18, 8-8 GAC) controlled the game from start to finish, led by Baylee Sales, who was outstanding in the circle. Sales earned the win after tossing a complete-game shutout. Southern Nazarene added to its advantage in the fifth inning. Kira Taber came through with an RBI single to right center, bringing home Mullendore once again. Later in the inning, Presley Brott lined a single up the middle to plate Taber and extend the lead to 3-0.
The Storm tacked on an insurance run in the sixth, capitalizing on pressure at the plate. Taber was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, allowing Bailey Nettles to score and push the lead to 4-0.
SNU's offense finished with nine hits on the afternoon, led by Mullendore's three-hit performance. Brott added two hits, while Anderson and Taber each drove in key runs.
