Crimson Storm Unable to Overcome the Bisons

Southern Nazarene drops to Harding in the Sawyer Center, 74-67

BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene battled wire-to-wire Thursday evening but came up just short in a hard-fought 74–67 loss to Harding inside the Sawyer Center.

The visiting Bisons (10–3, 6–1 GAC) jumped out to a quick lead to begin the contest putting the Crimson Storm (11–2, 5–2 GAC) in a bit of a hole early. SNU played catch up and traded momentum with the Bisons throughout the opening half. The Storm found their spark behind Aaron Potter, who buried three straight triples to pull SNU even at 27 with just under 90 seconds remaining in the period. Harding managed to hold on for a slim 32–30 advantage at the break.

Southern Nazarene opened the second half with renewed energy, using balanced scoring and strong defensive pressure to keep the game within one possession for much of the final 20 minutes. The Storm shot 48.1 percent from the floor in the second half and connected on four triples, but Harding answered with timely shooting of its own, hitting over 60 percent from the field after halftime to preserve the lead.

Bam Johnson paced SNU with a team-high 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting while adding five rebounds. Malik Edwards matched him with 16 points of his own, going an efficient 6-for-9 from the field and 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. Aaron Potter added 13 points and knocked down three three-pointers, while Baron Bracey chipped in 10 points and four rebounds.

The Storm received strong production from its bench, outscoring Harding's reserves 33–14, and forced 17 turnovers that were converted into 22 points. SNU also edged the Bisons in fast break points, 5–4, and stayed competitive in the paint with 24 points inside. The Storm struggled on the boards collecting just 17 rebounds compared to Harding's 33.

Southern Nazarene was unable to maintain their late momentum in the first half ultimately falling to the Bisons, 74-67 in Bethany.
