BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene secured a solid home victory Friday night, pulling away from Arkansas–Monticello for a 64–50 win inside the Sawyer Center.
The Crimson Storm (14–4, 8–4 GAC) set the tone early, using strong defensive pressure and efficient shooting to build a 40–20 advantage at halftime. SNU controlled the glass and knocked down timely perimeter shots, while holding the Weevils (8-10, 4-8 GAC) to just 30.4 percent shooting in the opening half.
Arkansas–Monticello showed improvement after the break, trimming into the deficit behind stronger shooting, but Southern Nazarene remained composed and never allowed the lead to slip into danger. The Storm continued to defend at a high level and capitalized on key possessions to close out the win.
Joe Mpoyo led the way for SNU with 22 points, knocking down six three-pointers while adding three rebounds and a block. Malik Edwards followed with 12 points and six assists, orchestrating the offense. Colby Henderson chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds, while Tracy Godfrey Jr. contributed nine points and a team-high nine boards to anchor the interior.
Southern Nazarene finished the night with a 39–31 rebounding advantage and limited Arkansas–Monticello to just 16.7 percent shooting from beyond the arc. The Storm also forced 14 turnovers, converting them into 15 points.
