Crimson Storm Gut Out 3OT Win Over the Reddies

No. 14 Southern Nazarene outlast Henderson State in triple-overtime road battle, 90-85

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — No. 14 Southern Nazarene outlasted Henderson State in a marathon triple-overtime battle Thursday night, pulling out a hard-fought 90–85 road victory in Arkadelphia.

The Crimson Storm (13–2, 7–2 GAC) and the Reddies (8–7, 5–4 GAC) were locked in a back-and-forth contest from the opening tip, with neither team able to gain separation through regulation. Henderson State held a narrow 31–30 edge after the first half.

The deadlock continued into the second period, as both teams continued to trade baskets late in the second half with defense tightening on both ends. SNU answered in the final seconds of the regulation, matching the Reddies point for point to send the game to overtime after a buzzer-beating three from Baron Bracey tied the score 61 all.

Southern Nazarene matched Henderson State in the first overtime period, with both teams scoring 11 points to push the game into a second extra period. The Storm again refused to yield in 2OT, leaning on timely stops and key free throws to keep pace as the game moved to a third overtime.

It was in the final overtime that SNU finally seized control. The Crimson Storm knocked down big shots and went 4-of-6 at the free-throw line in 3OT while holding Henderson State to just six points, closing out the five-point win on the road.

Baron Bracey delivered a standout performance, pouring in a game-high 23 points while grabbing 14 rebounds and dishing out five assists in 54 minutes of action. Joe Mpoyo added 16 points, knocking down three three-pointers, while Tracy Godfrey Jr. was efficient with 12 points and three steals.

Malik Edwards and James Burries each contributed 14 points off the bench, providing key scoring depth throughout the extended contest. Edwards also added seven assists and three steals, helping spark the Storm on both ends.

Southern Nazarene finished the evening, recording 20 assists on 32 made field goals, and knocked down 15-of-20 free throws. The Storm also forced 21 Henderson State turnovers and came up with 13 steals, repeatedly disrupting the Reddies' rhythm.

Through 17 different lead changes and 16 tied scores, the Crimson Storm stayed the course, pulling off just the sixth triple-overtime victory in GAC history.
