SNU Falls to Central Oklahoma

Adison Johnson scores in the second half, but SNU’s late push comes up short at Wes Harmon Field.

BETHANY, Okla. - Southern Nazarene Women's Soccer returned to Wes Harmon Field on Wednesday evening, but came up short in a 2-1 loss to Central Oklahoma.

The Bronchos (1-2-2, 0-0-0 MIAA) struck first with early pressure, testing SNU (1-3-0, 0-0-0 GAC) goalkeeper Gianna Bonnett on back to back shots from Becca Tweedy and Lauren Piper. Bonnett came up big with two saves to keep things level, while the Crimson Storm answered with looks from Gabriella Ponce, Sam Smith, and Bella Morgas.

Momentum shifted when UCO's Kaitlyn Cotton converted a penalty kick, giving the Bronchos a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

Just minutes into the second half, Central Oklahoma doubled their advantage to make it 2-0. SNU refused to go away quietly, though, as Adison Johnson found the back of the net to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Charis Andrews nearly equalized with a late strike, but her effort sailed just wide.

The Crimson Storm kept pressing until the final whistle, but couldn't find the equalizer as UCO held on for the 2-1 win.
