Johnson Tabbed as Head Cheer and STUNT Coach

BETHANY, Okla. - Southern Nazarene Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Danny Thomason, announced the hiring of Erin Johnson as the new leader of SNU Cheer and STUNT. "We were blessed to have many qualified candidates for our Head Cheer/STUNT Coach position, and Erin Johnson rose to the top. Her background in assisting with formulating the original STUNT the Sport rules and collegiate coaching experience make her the exciting choice to take our Cheer/STUNT programs to even higher levels," said Thomason.

Johnson comes to Southern Nazarene after spending one season as the head STUNT coach at Oklahoma City University. She brings to the table an experienced background in cheer and gymnastics. Erin has spent 20 years in gymnastics as a head coach, assistant coach, choreographer, and judge. She has also spent 13 years in cheer and STUNT as a head coach, assistant coach, choreographer, and judge. 

Johnson was born and raised in Oklahoma and graduated from Oklahoma Christian School. She later attended Southern Nazarene University where she graduated in 2010 with a degree in psychology. During her time at SNU, she was a member of the Cross Country and Track and Field teams. After her time with the Crimson Storm, she went on to earn her master's degree in criminology in 2013 at Oklahoma City University. During her time at OCU, she was a member of the Large Coed Cheerleading and STUNT Teams. As an athlete, Johnson was a three-time All-American and a two-time National Champion in cheer. 

"I have been blessed to have been around STUNT since the beginning and am passionate about the opportunities it is providing for female athletes all around the country. It is an honor to carry the legacy of SNU Cheer and STUNT forward and am so grateful to those who have paved the way in this program," shared Johnson.

Erin is married to her husband Steve. They have two children Rae and Conrad. Erin and her family reside in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
