Crimson Storm's Season Ends in GAC Tournament Semifinals

Oklahoma Baptist knocks off the Crimson Storm in the GAC Semifinals, 6-4

BENTONVILLE, Ark. - The No. 3 Crimson Storm met the No. 2 Oklahoma Baptist Bison in the Semifinals of the Great American Conference Softball Tournament. Looking to punch their ticket to the finals, SNU battled it out with the Bison but came up short falling 6-4.

It was a pitcher's duel early as both squads rolled out their aces to start the contest in the circle. Southern Nazarene (33-21, 21-12 GAC) got on the board first in the top of the fourth after Maddie Southerland drove in a run to give SNU a 1-0 lead. Janie Worthington kept the Bison (36-16, 25-7 GAC) offense quiet heading into the fifth.

A weather delay was issued after lightning in the area, putting the game on pause. Play resumed and the Storm picked up right where they left off adding to their lead thanks to a sacrifice fly from Hailey Evans to go ahead 2-0.

Oklahoma Baptist responded in the bottom half of the inning after a two-run double from Sammie Greene tied the score at 2-2. SNU was able to take back their lead in the sixth after a sacrifice fly from Eden Anderson plated one run.

OBU continued to find a response, tying the score once again after a home run from Nichelle Marshall tied the score up at 3-3 after six innings of play.

SNU continued to battle and took back the lead once more after an RBI single from Evans gave the Crimson Storm a one-run advantage going into the bottom of the seventh. The Bison were not going down without a fight after a double from Morgan Max put the tying run aboard with one out.

Worthington then issued a walk putting two base runners on for Ally Ryan who hit the walkoff home run to secure the 6-4 victory for the Bison, ending the Crimson Storm's season.

The GAC Softball Championships wraps up the season for Southern Nazarene. They will now look ahead to the 2026 season.
