Crimson Storm Cruise To Sweep Over Monticello

Southern Nazarene picks up the sweep in final regular season GAC series

BETHANY, Okla. - The Crimson Storm finished off the regular season with a sweep over the Blossoms on senior day. With the series sweep, Southern Nazarene was able to claim the No. 3 seed in the Great American Conference Tournament next week.

Game 1

The Crimson Storm (33-20, 21-12 GAC) was propelled by a stellar outing from Janie Worthington in the circle as she held the Blossoms (17-29, 11-20 GAC) scoreless while allowing just one hit in seven innings of work.

Southern Nazarene got on the board first in the bottom of the second after Hannah Morales doubled plating two runs. Hailey Evans followed with a two-run single up the middle to extend the SNU lead to 4-0.

Morales stayed hot at the plate driving in another run on a double down the left field line. Graysen Stanley then drove in run on an RBI single to left to put SNU ahead 6-0 through three innings.

Neither team was able to send another run across home as the Crimson Storm were lifted to a 6-0 win after a strong performance at the plate and in the circle.

Game 2

The Blossoms looked to avoid the series sweep striking first in the top of the second to lead 1-0. It was not long until the Crimson Storm evened the score after a solo home run from Emma Swearingen in the bottom half of the inning.

SNU kept the scoring going in the third after Evans, Liana Heshiki, and Kristen Mullendore teamed up to drive in four runs to lead 5-1. The Storm was not done yet as Evans belted a three-run home run extending the SNU lead to seven. Swearingen then tacked on one final run with an RBI single to lead 9-1 after four.

Kelsi Hilton and Maddie Southerland went to work in the circle finishing off the Blossoms to secure the 9-1 run-rule victory and the series sweep.
