Storm Utilize Late Push to Takedown the Bison

Southern Nazarene earn walkoff win over Oklahoma Baptist, 7-6

BETHANY, Okla. - The Crimson Storm hosted the Bison of Oklahoma Baptist for the final game of their conference series. It was an offensive battle that ultimately fell the Crimson Storm's way, as they took the 7-6 win in Bethany.

The Bison (32-16, 23-7 GAC) wasted no time getting on the board after a double in the left-center gap plated one in the first. Southern Nazarene (29-20, 18-112 GAC) responded quickly, knotting the score up at one after an RBI single from Emma Swearingen. SNU extended their lead after a three-run shot from Maddie Southerland, which gave them the 4-1 lead.

The bats were quiet for both sides until the Bison began to rally in the fifth. An RBI single cut the Storm lead to 4-2, but OBU was not done yet. A two-run home run and an RBI double gave the Bison a one-run lead heading into the bottom of the fifth.

Oklahoma Baptist then tacked on another run in the top of the sixth to lead 6-4. SNU found a spark in the bottom half of the inning after a double down the left field line from Kelsi Hilton drove in a run. The Crimson Storm quickly tied the score after an OBU error to go into the final inning tied up at six.

Maddie Southerland shut down the Bison offense in the top of the seventh giving Southern Nazarene a chance for a walkoff. The Crimson Storm were able to manufacture a few base runners before an error from the Bison sent the winning run across home as SNU claimed the 7-6 victory.
