Farewell to Coach Steve Gault: A Legacy of Leadership and Friendship Coach Gault steps away in retirement

BETHANY, Okla. - The Southern Nazarene University softball family bids a heartfelt farewell to Coach Steve Gault as he steps into retirement, closing an incredible chapter of dedication, mentorship, and excellence in collegiate athletics.

Coach Gault has been an invaluable part of SNU Softball, serving as the team pitching coach and helping shape the program into a championship contender. His knowledge, leadership, and passion for the game have left a lasting impact on countless student-athletes, both on and off the field. Under his guidance, SNU pitchers developed into some of the most competitive in the Great American Conference, playing a key role in the team's historic NCAA tournament run.

Coach Gault's impact extended far beyond the bullpen. His influence was felt across the entire program, and no one knows that better than Head Coach Brian Madden.

"Coach G will be missed greatly. He was a tremendous help to our program, molding our pitching staff and mentoring players. But his worth is greater than just being a pitching coach, he was a great friend. He helped run this program alongside me. He helped guide me as a young head coach. I will always be indebted to him for that. Thank you, Coach G" shared Head Coach Brian Madden.

Before his time at SNU, Coach Gault was an assistant coach at Oklahoma Christian University for 24 years, helping start that program. His coaching career also extended beyond softball, with a long tenure in high school basketball at Crooked Oak, where he instilled the same discipline, character, and competitive spirit that defined his career.

Beyond the wins and accolades, Coach Gault's greatest legacy is the relationships he built with players and coaches. His mentorship, love of the game, and unwavering support have left a lasting imprint that will be felt for years to come.

As he steps away from the field, we celebrate a career well spent and a life well lived in service to young athletes. Thank you, Coach Gault, for your years of dedication, your wisdom, and the countless lives you've influenced. Enjoy your well-earned retirement, you will always be a part of the SNU Softball family.

Coach Gault will still be serving the youth by giving pitching lessons at the Oklahoma Drive facility in South OKC.
