Storm Stumble at Central Oklahoma

Crimson Storm come up short in midweek doubleheader

EDMOND, Okla. - The Crimson Storm Softball team made the quick trip to Edmond to take on No. 5 ranked Central Oklahoma for a midweek doubleheader. The Bronchos' offense proved to be hefty as the Storm came up short on the road.

Game 1

Southern Nazarene (26-19, 15-11 GAC) got on the board first after a double from Maddie Southerland plated Kristen Mullendore in the top of the first. The Bronchos (39-6, 16-2 MIAA) took over from there, taking the lead in the bottom half of the inning after an RBI single and two-run home run.

UCO kept the offense going in the second, plating two more runs to take a 5-1 lead. The Crimson Storm struggled to find an offensive spark as the Bronchos shut them down at the plate. Central Oklahoma continued to tack on the runs plating one more in the third to extend their lead.

The Bronchos finished things off in the bottom of the fourth putting up three more runs to lead 9-1 heading into the fifth inning. The Crimson Storm could not find the run they needed to avoid a run rule, as UCO took the 9-1 win in five innings.

Game 2

Game two was all Central Oklahoma as they jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first. The Bronchos extended their lead in the third after an RBI single plated one run.

The scoring continued for UCO in the third after two home runs pushed the Bronchos' lead to 6-0. The Crimson Storm struggled to chip away at the lead as Central Oklahoma tacked on two final runs in the fourth to claim the 9-0 victory in five innings.
