Wonder Boys Sweep Storm at Feland Field

Arkansas Tech’s offense proves too much as SNU drops final two games 20-10 and 15-6

BETHANY, Okla. - Southern Nazarene wrapped up their three-game series at home on Saturday evening at Feland Field, but the visiting Wonder Boys from Arkansas Tech walked away with the series sweep over the Crimson Storm.

Game 1
Arkansas Tech (22-18,17-9 GAC) got things moving fast, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. SNU (9-32, 3-25 GAC) came right back in the second after Aiden McCullough doubled to left to score Cade Ross. Antonio Sabala followed that up with a single through the right side to bring McCullough home, making it 3-2.

The Wonder Boys responded with a big six-run third inning to stretch their lead to 9-2.

In the bottom of the fourth, Jaxon Gless reached on a fielding error by the Wonder Boys and McCullough crushed a two-run home run to left center, his second big swing of the game, to cut it to 9-4. ATU kept the pressure on, adding two more runs in the fifth and eventually running away with it.

Arkansas Tech piled on the runs late, securing the run-rule win with a final score of 20-10.

Game 2
The Crimson Storm struck first in game two as Weston Hicks singled to left to bring home Antonio Sabala and give SNU an early 1-0 lead.

The Wonder Boys wasted no time answering, scoring two in the second and three more in the third to take a 5-1 lead.

McCullough stayed hot in the fourth, hitting one to right to bring in Ross and make it 5-2, but Arkansas Tech's offense never let off. They added runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings.
SNU showed more fight in the sixth as Sebastian Figga launched a solo shot to left. Brady Benedict then knocked in another run with a single up the middle.

In the seventh, Figga stayed locked in with another RBI single and Ross came around to score after a fielding error on ATU, but it wasn't enough to catch up.

With a 15-6 final, Arkansas Tech closed out the series sweep over the Crimson Storm in Bethany.
