Crimson Storm Pick Up Two Wins in Arkadelphia

Southern Nazarene sweeps the doubleheader against the Tigers to claim the series

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Crimson Storm traveled to Arkadelphia for a conference series with Ouachita Baptist. The Southern Nazarene offense dominated, taking the two-game sweep over the Tigers to claim the series.

Game 1

The SNU (14-12, 7-6 GAC) offense got off to a hot start posting a five-run first inning on three hits and three Ouachita (10-17, 4-9 GAC) errors. Janie Worthington got the ball in the circle for the Storm handing the Tigers three quick outs.

The Crimson Storm did not plate another run until the fifth inning when an Ouachita error sent another run home. SNU plated one more in the fifth thanks to an RBI single from Kristen Mullendore pushing the SNU lead to 7-0.

The Southern Nazarene offense caught a spark in the sixth inning, tacking on five more runs to lead 12-0. Worthington continued to shut down the Tiger offense, holding them scoreless through six innings of play.

The Tigers were able to get one run back, but it was not enough as the Crimson Storm claimed the run-rule victory, 12-1.

Game 2

The Crimson Storm bats stayed hot in game two as they posted four runs in the second to take an early 4-0 lead. Emma Swearingen got things started off with a two-run bomb before Eden Anderson and Kenedi Morelock each drove in runs. Olivia Hernandez kept the Tigers quiet on offense as she dominated in the circle handing them a scoreless inning.

Kristen Mullendore kept the scoring going in the top of the third with an RBI single extending the SNU lead to 5-0. The Tigers got one run back in the bottom half of the inning after a solo home run to cut the deficit to four.

Southern Nazarene tacked on two more runs in the fifth thanks to RBI singles from Mullendore and Marlee Warden extending the SNU lead to 7-1. A Peyton Norvelle double sent two more runners home in the top of the seventh to secure the 9-1 victory for the Crimson Storm.
