SNU Grabs 2-1 Victory Over Ouachita Baptist

The Crimson Storm earn their first win over the Tigers since 2017 at Wes Harmon Field

BETHANY, Okla. - Southern Nazarene women's soccer picked up a huge 2-1 win over Ouachita Baptist on Wednesday evening at Wes Harmon Field. The victory marked the first time the Crimson Storm have defeated the Tigers since 2017.

The opening half was evenly matched, with both teams creating solid chances but unable to break through. Gianna Bonnett came up big in goal for SNU (5-8-1, 3-5-0 GAC) stopping shots from Madi Vana and McKenna Wright to keep things scoreless. On the other end, Sam Smith, Bella Morgas, and Gabriella Ponce all put pressure on the Ouachita Baptist (4-6-4, 3-2-3) defense, but the Storm went into halftime tied 0-0.

Early in the second half, the Tigers struck first, finding the back of the net six minutes in to take a 1-0 lead. Southern Nazarene responded quickly as Morgas hit the right post, and shortly after, JQ Molgaard snuck in the equalizer to make it 1-1. The Crimson Storm kept attacking with shots from Adison Johnson and Sydney Stringer, both saved by the Tigers keeper.

With momentum on their side, Ella Adams came up clutch, scoring the go ahead goal to put SNU up 2-1. Bonnett and the Crimson Storm defense held strong down the stretch, turning away late attempts from Ouachita to secure the 2-1 win in Bethany.
