Crimson Storm Shutout Oklahoma Baptist on the Road

Sam Smith and Bella Morgas score as Southern Nazarene earns a 2-0 win in Shawnee

SHAWNEE, Okla. - Southern Nazarene made the short trip to Shawnee on Wednesday evening and came away with a big 2-0 win over Oklahoma Baptist.

The Crimson Storm (4-7-1, 2-4-0 GAC) came out strong, creating several early looks at goal. Samantha Most fired one just wide before Bella Morgas forced a save from the Bison (1-7-4, 1-4-1 GAC) keeper. A few minutes later, Sam Smith broke through, finding the back of the net off an assist from Gabriella Ponce to put SNU up 1-0. Goalkeeper Gianna Bonnett made multiple key saves to hold the lead, including a stop on a shot from OBU's Hali White, as the Crimson Storm went into halftime ahead 1-0.

In the second half, Bonnett continued to shine with another big save early on. Ella Adams nearly doubled the lead with a strong shot on goal, and not long after, she set up Bella Morgas for SNU's second score of the day.

Morgas' goal made it 2-0 and gave the Crimson Storm full control. Bonnett added a few more clutch saves to secure the shutout as SNU wrapped up the road win in Shawnee.
