BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene looked to secure its second Great American Conference win of the season, but fell short at home Saturday afternoon, dropping a 28-7 decision to Ouachita Baptist.
The Crimson Storm (1-5, 1-5 GAC) were hoping to repeat history after stunning the Tigers (3-3, 3-3 GAC) in Arkadelphia last season. But this time, Ouachita Baptist capitalized on key turnovers to exact revenge in Bethany.
SNU held their own in the first half, powered by a strong defensive performance that kept the game even at the break. After falling behind early in the second quarter, the Storm answered quickly as quarterback
Bryson Evans found
Van Taylor for a 12-yard touchdown to cap a 9-play, 70-yard drive, tying the game at 7-7.
The defense continued to shine throughout the first half, making key stops to keep the game level heading into halftime.
After the break, Ouachita regained the lead with a field goal, and shortly after, added another following an SNU interception to make it 13-7. Despite the setback, the Storm defense kept the game within reach, entering the final quarter still trailing by just six.
However, the Tigers pulled away in the fourth, scoring two touchdowns—one on a short run and another on a 20-yard scamper—to extend the lead and leave SNU with just 2:34 remaining. Ouachita held strong to close it out, handing the Storm a 28-7 loss on their home field.
