Storm Bounce Back with 68-55 Win Over Arkansas Tech

Hannah Giddey delivers her sixth double-double of the season, leading SNU to a victory

Russellville, Ark. - After a tough loss to Harding earlier in the week, the Crimson Storm bounced back with a solid win on the road against Arkansas Tech, 68-55. Southern Nazarene's Hannah Giddey led the Crimson Storm charge yet again.

Giddey, who was on fire throughout the game, collected her sixth double-double of the season with 15 rebounds and 20 points.

The first quarter was tight, with both teams battling early. Arkansas Tech (3-9, 1-7 GAC) struck first with a layup from Andie Zylak, but Southern Nazarene (9-5, 6-2 GAC) quickly answered with a three pointer from Umi Otsuka. The Storm then took control, with Giddey finding the basket and Jena Bay adding a jumper. SNU finished the quarter, holding onto a 13-10 lead.

Going into the second quarter, the Storm maintained their momentum. Hannah Duncan contributed back to back layups to help push the lead. Katie King followed by knocking down a three pointer on an assist from Giddey. A late push from the Golden Suns, including a jumper from Julie Wagner, did not phase Southern Nazarene as they took a 29-19 advantage heading into halftime.

The third quarter saw the Golden Suns make a run, cutting the Storm's lead to just four points, 40-36. Olivia Jones hit a three pointer and Abbigrace Cunningham added a layup, but SNU kept their composure. Giddey and King responded with strong inside play, while Jillian Crawford hit a three pointer thanks to an assist from Braci Nyberg to maintain the lead heading into the final quarter of the game.

In the fourth quarter, the Storm started to pull away. Just four minutes in, Nyberg set up Carley Gasaway for a three pointer, and added a tip in to give SNU a bigger cushion. Arkansas Tech kept fighting, with Cunningham and Wyrick trying to keep the Golden Suns within striking distance. But Southern Nazarene kept answering back, with Shannon Burton adding a layup to seal the win for the Storm, 68-55.

The Crimson Storm will look to keep their momentum going as they head back home for their next matchup.
