Storm Upsets No. 17 Fort Hays State 3-1

SNU Rallies for a Big Home Victory

BETHANY, Okla. - It was a great night at Wes Harmon Field as The Crimson Storm took down No. 17 Fort Hays State 3-1.

The game got off to a fast start, with SNU's (4-3-1, 1-1 GAC) Haruka Miyatake testing the Fort Hays (3-2-1, 0-1 GAC) keeper, Ben Dixon, with just 14 seconds into the game. Not long after, Francisco Chong fired another shot on target, but Dixon stood his ground. The Tigers fought back, getting their chance with 38:13 on the clock when Anders Sandsto forced Andrej Krivokapic into a clutch save. But, just before the break, Bryce Dickerson put Fort Hays on the board with a goal with only three minutes left in the first half, assisted by Harrison Bensouda, giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead going into halftime.

The second half was all about the Storm turning things around. The Tigers had a couple of early chances, but Krivokapic stepped up and kept the game close. The Storm got their break in the 62nd minute when Axel Agurcia knocked in a penalty kick to tie it up at 1-1.

With 78:21 on the clock, Unaiz Shajani took a shot and drilled it into the net, putting the Storm ahead 2-1 for their first lead of the game. But Shajani wasn't done just yet. Less than 10 minutes later, with only a few minutes left in the game, he struck again, sealing the game with his second goal 3-1.

Even with Dixon making a late save on another shot from Shajani, the Storm held strong and finished with a 3-1 win against Fort Hays State.
