Storm Clinches Win With Late Goals

SNU Tops NWOSU 2-0 in Conference Opener

ALVA, Okla. - The Crimson Storm made a statement in their first conference matchup of the season in Alva, defeating Northwestern Oklahoma State University 2-0.

From the start of the match, the Storm (3-2-1, 1-0 GAC) came out with a mission, keeping the pressure on the Rangers (2- 4-1, 0-1 GAC). The game kicked off with some early action as Ella Adams fired off a shot just over two minutes into the game. The NWOSU's keeper Rachel Brown made a save keeping the score at 0-0. A couple of minutes later, Adams was at it again, but Brown made another save.

The first half was full of shots, with Avery Pyle and JQ Molgaard nearly finding the net, but Brown stopped their attempts with some fantastic saves. NWOSU's Tanah Huffines and Lily Anderson took their shots, but Gianna Bonnett wasn't letting anything slip past her, keeping the game scoreless going into halftime 0-0.

In the second half, the Storm finally got their breakthrough. With 53:33 on the clock, Karla Ramirez, with help from Mallory Bennett and Ella Adams, broke the tie to make it 1-0. SNU kept the pressure on with Bennett and Natalie Montanez taking shots, but Brown continued to make great saves.

The Storm sealed the win with about 10 minutes left in the game when Brenda Castro scored with a great assist from Marybeth Kessler, pushing the score to 2-0. Northwestern's Isabella McMillan tried for a late goal, but Bonnett came through with another great save to maintain the shutout.
