Storm Shuts Down PSU's Win Streak With 2-0 Victory

Storm Makes Their Mark

BETHANY, Okla. - In a dominant outing at Wes Harmon field, the Southern Nazarene University Women's Soccer team brought their best and ended Pittsburg State's three-game win streak with a solid 2-0 victory on their home turf.

From the first whistle, SNU (1-1-1, 0-0 GAC) showed they were ready to make a statement. Natalie Montanez got the Storm going with a goal with only 8:20 on the clock in the first half giving them a 1-0 lead. Bella Morgas kept the pressure on the Pitt State(3-1, 0-0 MIAA) defense, taking a shot of her own shortly after, but just missed.

As the first clock ticked down, JQ Molgaard found Adison Johnson, scoring SNU's second goal at the 37:24 mark. With the Storm leading 2-0, it was clear that Pittsburg State was in for a tough night.
Pittsburg State tried to fight back in the second half with a few close calls with Hanna Carlisle and Jadyn Newell making a few strong attempts, but SNU's goalkeeper Gianna Bonnett was on top of her game, stopping everything that came her way. Despite their best efforts, the Gorillas just couldn't break through.

With solid defense and some great saves from Bonnett, SNU closed out the game 2-0 and put an end to PSU's win streak.
