Crimson Storm Sweep Roosevelt

Storm earn the sweep over the Lakers to end the Drury Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Crimson Storm met the Roosevelt Lakers for their final contest of the Drury Invitational. SNU left Springfield on a high note after sweeping the Lakers, 3-0.

Southern Nazarene (2-6, 0-0 GAC) jumped on the Lakers (1-7, 0-0 GLIAC) early after Kate Wright and Whitney Bowie opened up the match with a couple of kills.

The Storm remained in control as Molly Langford and Rayanna Mauldin powered down a few more kills to lead 8-5.

A small run from Roosevelt tied the score, but SNU was unphased as Wright and Bowie teamed up once again to take back the lead. A 4-0 run pushed the Storm ahead 17-13, but the Lakers continued to hang around.

A few more kills gave the Storm a 22-19 lead heading into the final points of the set. The Lakers then responded tying the score at 22-all.

Back to back kills from Bowie gave SNU set point, but RU tied the score once again. A pair of attack errors from the Lakers gave the Crimson Storm the first set, 26-24.

Southern Nazarene continued their momentum into the second set opening up with an early 5-1 lead. The Lakers continued to linger after a few points of their own. Another 5-0 run stretched the Crimson Storm lead to 12-5.

The Storm remained in control piling on the kills as Riley Richardson and Isabella Labrada got in on the fun.

An ace from Wright and another error from the Lakers sealed the deal as the Storm walked away with set two, 25-14.

The Lakers looked to avoid the sweep as they controlled the first points of the third set. A 4-0 from the Storm allowed them to take the lead, 11-10. Roosevelt stayed persistent taking back the lead 14-12.

Another 4-0 run for SNU sparked the comeback they needed as they took control of the final set, 25-20.
