EDMOND, Okla.—Southern Nazarene Women's Golf hosted the annual Diffee Ford Lincoln at the Kickingbird Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday. The Crimson Storm competed well, taking a 6th place finish out of a 14 team field.
SNU struggled a bit with the conditions on Tuesday, as did most teams in the field. The Storm followed a 308 team effort in round one with a score of 323 in round two. They finished with a two-day total of 631 (+71). They were just six strokes behind Oklahoma Baptist for fifth place. Southwestern Oklahoma State won the tournament by seven strokes over Oklahoma Christian. SWOSU totaled 592 (+32) as a team and claimed second, third, and fourth on the individual leaderboard. Oklahoma Christian's Sofia Benavides won the tournament with a two-round score of 142 (+2).
The Crimson Storm were led by Sara Armstrong, who placed T-18 in a 77 player field. She followed a 76 round one performance with an 80 in round two for a total score of 156.
Haley Whittern and Natalie Lewis each tied for 30th after posting two-round scores of 159. Whittern went 74-85 over two rounds, while Lewis shot 78-81 in her two rounds. Whittern racked up the birdies in the tournament, finishing 5th with five total birdies.
Hannah Torres was just one stroke behind Whittern and Lewis at 160. She consistently shot 80 in both rounds on her way to a T-32 finish.
Hallie Schultz rounded out the SNU lineup by following an 81 in round one with an 82 in round two. She totaled 163 to claim a T-45 placing.
The Crimson Storm will now have three weeks off of tournament play before returning to action in Arkansas March 25-26. SNU will then compete in the Hardscrabble Invitational, hosted by Arkansas-Fort Smith at the Hardscrabble Country Club.
