STUNT Closes Out Inaugural Season in Shawnee

SNU STUNT falls to three top-ranked programs at OBU’s tournament last weekend

SHAWNEE, Okla. – SNU STUNT finished out their inaugural season at Oklahoma Baptist's tournament, falling in all three games to top-ranked Maryville, Oklahoma Baptist, and Alma College.

The Storm had their first game with Maryville on Saturday afternoon, facing a tall task as Maryville tabbed at No. 7 in NCAA Division II. The Storm came close each round, but the Saints executed each routine stronger than the Storm, edging SNU in their first game 21-0.

Monday, SNU headed back to Bison Hill to go head-to-head with No. 2 ranked OBU and No. 1 ranked Alma (Division III). The Storm faced a dynamic and talented OBU, working hard to achieve the upset of the Bison. Despite the Storm's efforts, Oklahoma Baptist managed to run away with the 23-0 victory on their home mat.

SNU finished the tournament taking on top-ranked Division III contender Alma College. The score ended 24-0 in favor of the Scots, but the Storm saw team improvements as they hit jumps, tumbling, and team routines that had troubled them earlier in the day.

In their first season as an official STUNT program, the Storm finished 4-7, highlighted by an undefeated season-opening tournament at Connors State.

Head Coach Angela Hamilton is excited for what is to come with SNU STUNT: ""Learning and successfully executing 12 new STUNT routines for our first season was a huge accomplishment for the team. Not only did the STUNT team play their own games, they have also continued to cheer for the women's and men's home basketball games. Our team of 21 athletes put in so much work and I could not be more proud."
