SNU Secures Win over Southern Arkansas

Storm Defeats SAU 61-50

BETHANY, Okla.-  Southern Nazarene kept their winning streak alive with a 61-50 victory over Southern Arkansas in the Sawyer Center. The Storm brought the energy as Hannah Giddey led the offense as they secured their second conference win of the season.

Giddey was a force in the paint all night, collecting her second double double of the season while setting up assists and scoring in the paint.

The Storm (5-3, 2-0 GAC) came out strong in the first quarter, as Giddey got going early with a layup and jumper, both assisted by Umi Otsuka and Katie King. A three pointer from Otsuka pushed the lead further, and by the end of the first quarter, SNU was in control with a 19-11 lead over the SAU (5-2,0-1 GAC).

In the second quarter, the offense kept rolling with Hannah Duncan and Carley Gasaway knocking down threes, both set up by assists from Otsuka and Giddey. Southern Arkansas tried to keep pace with Crystal Ortiz leading their scoring, but the Storm's defense held strong, keeping SNU ahead 31-18 at halftime.

The Muleriders made a push in the third quarter with layups from Elena Lijo-Rodriguez and Qua Chambers, but the Crimson Storm answered right back. King added to her points total with a jumper in the paint, and Giddey continued to dominate with another layup, helping the Storm maintain a 45-35 lead going into the final quarter.

The fourth quarter, King capped off her night with back to back baskets, and Braci Nyberg added a clutch three pointer. The Muleriders made a late push, but SNU held their ground to lock in the 61-50 victory.
