SNU and OBU Battle to a 0-0 Draw in Shawnee

The Storm and Bison go the distance, but neither side can break through finishing in a 0-0 draw

SHAWNEE, Okla.-  Southern Nazarene took the short trip to Shawnee, facing off against Oklahoma Baptist in a showdown that ended in a 0-0 tie.

Just two minutes in at 2:26, SNU's (6-4-6, 4-2-5 GAC) Sam Smith took the first shot, putting OBU's defense on alert. By 10:04, Oklahoma Baptist's (5-6-5, 4-3-4 GAC) Lex Williamson fired back, sending a shot just wide of the goal.

Karla Ramirez tried to sneak one past the Bison's keeper, Claire Stoermer, with a low shot aimed straight at the center, but Stoermer was ready, keeping OBU in the game. The score stayed tight, with shots back and forth but no one found the back of the net in the first half.

After halftime, OBU's Emma Teague came out strong, sending one just wide right, barely missing the goal.

The Bison were pressing, but the Crimson Storm's defense stayed solid. At 63:13 OBU's Sam Sheffield aimed for the bottom center of the goal, but SNU's keeper Gianna Bonnett was on the save, keeping it scoreless.

Brenda Castro brought SNU close with 69:25 on the clock, firing a shot right at Stoermer, who once again denied the Storm. Ella Adams and JQ Molgaard both tried to break the tie, but neither were able to get one past Stoermer.

As the clock ran out, SNU and OBU wrapped up the night with a hard fought 0-0 draw.
