Storm Rolls Past Bronchos for Second Win of the Season

SNU outlasts UCO in a hard fought 64-57 battle in Edmond

EDMOND, Okla. - Southern Nazarene went up the road to Edmond to battle the University of Central Oklahoma, pulling off a 64-57 victory. The Storm snagged their second win of the season with tough defense and some big plays on offense, keeping the Bronchos scrambling to catch up.

The game tipped off with UCO (1-4, 0-0 MIAA) striking first as Talia Pogi tacked on a layup. But SNU (2-2, 0-0 GAC) quickly responded when Umi Otsuka knocked down a three pointer, giving the Storm an early edge at 3-2. Central Oklahoma fought back, trading buckets with SNU, but the Storm turned up the heat. A steal by Katie King led to the offense going as Jordan Hoffman hit a three pointer. Braci Nyberg kept the offensive fire going as she drilled a three to give SNU an 18-16 lead after the first quarter.

SNU carried their momentum into the second quarter, with Otsuka continuing to shine. Her jumper and three pointer pushed the Storm ahead 23-20. Braci Nyberg added a smooth layup, while UCO struggled to match SNU's pace. The Storm's defense held strong, allowing them to extend their lead to 37-25 by halftime.

The Bronchos came out firing in the third quarter, with Korie Allensworth hitting a jumper and a three pointer. But The Crimson Storm had answers of their own. Giddey remained unstoppable in the paint, pouring in the layups and free throws to keep the Storm in front. Gracee Miller helped UCO from the line, but the quarter closed with SNU still ahead, 49-43.

As the game entered its final stretch, both teams scrapped for every point. Hoffman added some free throws, while Hannah Duncan powered through the defense for a layup. UCO tried to close the gap with free throws from Karly Wadsworth, but it wasn't enough to overcome SNU's steady composure.

The Storm wrapped up their night in Edmond with a solid 64-57 win, locking in their second victory of the season.
